SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
The editor of Ryga is Sean Johnston, the author of A Day Does Not Go By (Nightwood, 2002), which won the 2003 ReLit Award for short fiction, and the novel All This Town Remembers (Gaspereau, 2006). He's also published chapbooks: A Long Day Inside the Buildings (with Drew Kennickel; JackPine Press, 2004) and Bull Island (Gaspereau, 2004). Sean teaches Literature and Creative Writing at Okanagan College.
Ryga welcomes submissions of previously unpublished poetry, prose and short plays that coincide with our editorial mission and follow these guidelines:
Poetry should be single-spaced. Prose and plays should be double-spaced.
A standard, readable font should be used, in 12-point type.
Each page should be numbered and include the author's name and the title of the piece.
Prose and play manuscripts should include a word count.
Submissions by mail should include a self-addressed, stamped envelope for response and/or return of the manuscript. They should also include a brief cover-letter with your contact information and a brief bio. Do not staple the manuscript.
Submissions by email should include the text pasted into the body of the email AND attached as a Word file or a Rich Text Format (.rtf) file.
Our response time will vary according to the volume of submissions. Please don't contact us about the status of your submission unless you haven't heard from us for three months.
If your work is accepted, Ryga buys First North American serial rights, Chapbook rights and non-exclusive WWW rights.
